With TOK024, Tonkind presents a great EP by the australian team Shades of Gray from
Sydney and Melbourne's shiny kid Uone. Their love for inspired house music has evolved
into a collaboration, what now will be Tonkind’s 24th release. Hitting the shelves in mid-
October ‘Katoomba’ is a 4 track EP injected with inescapable rhythms and resounding
grooves.
‘Katoomba’, a deep and dirty title track laced with Killer grooves and punchy vocals. The
jabbing bassline sits perfectly under the percussion creating a straight up driving floor-filler!
Uone and Shades of Gray draw out the last of summer, with the bright and instrumentally
rich track, ‘Hondurians’. Hints of Hispania ring through the vocals, with the percussion and
flute snippets creating an exotic tech-house melody.
Next up is ‘I’m Feeling High’, a crafty piano entwined house tune with a deep and dubby
bass line. The filtered piano loop rises up through the break down and opens the track into
a rolling house jam. Yet again, the delectable and sultry vocals really define and hold the
track together.
Closing the EP is the bright and breezy affair, ‘Perfect Changes’. Analogue synths and the
pitch-shifting percussion present a masterful deep house exploration.
Four excellently employed house tracks comprise this exciting and colorful new release
from Berlin based label Tonkind.
